Santa Fe Superintendent Derek Lark spoke about some of the bills passed during the 2025 Missouri Legislative Session, which wrapped up on May 16.
Lark first spoke about a series of bills appropriating state funding for public education. He says the funding is badly needed and hopes to see the bills get signed by Governor Mike Kehoe.
Lark also said this funding becomes more important as the Legislature also approved increases in teacher pay.
Lark also spoke about Senate Bill 68, which aims to prevent the use of cell phones and other “electronic personal communication devices” throughout the school day. Lark says the district already has rules in place preventing cell phone usage and doesn’t think the bill lead to any significant changes for the district.
