City Hall in Fayette will receive upgrades to the approach to its entrance, following action Tuesday, May 27 by the Board of Aldermen.

City administrator Deanna Cooper says the board received two bids and accepted the low bid from Lawson Concrete totaling $12,000.

Cooper says some exterior brick tuck-pointing will also take place, but no other work to the structure itself is involved. The new ramp and stairs will mark the most significant change to the building since the addition of a gable over the entrance, resulting in the removal of an overhead sign. The board agreed to a request to give the sign to the Dotson family.

The board also approved Fayette’s audit from 2021. Cooper says the city and its auditors continue to work through the backlog of annual audits with their current firm.
