Slater High School’s next Life Academy could include a 30-minute presentation informing their students about the option to become an organ donor.
The district’s school board voted Tuesday night to allow a presentation about becoming an organ donor and follow-up discussion. Supt. Dr Terry Lorenz says the board’s deliberations about the presentation were thorough.
Lorenz adds that the board added a provision requiring parental notification.
Slater’s Life Academy is scheduled for April.
Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the school board approved the purchase of new softball uniforms totaling $1800, and increased the substitute pay rate to $115 per day, in anticipation of minimum pay rate increases becoming law in August. The board also continued their cover-to-cover review of board policies, giving final approval to policies pertaining to facilities development. Policies concerning personnel were given a second reading, while those focused on negotiations received a first reading.
