Crashes in Henry and Howard counties this weekend resulted in injuries, after their drivers were unable to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A Warrensburg teen was flown to a Kansas City area hospital Friday, May 30 after suffering serious injuries in a utility terrain vehicle crash outside Montrose.  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old man was driving a UTV on Southwest 1301 Road, about a mile southwest of Montrose, when at around 7:15 p.m., he lost control as he was exiting a curve. The UTV went off the right side of the roadway and overturned onto the driver’s side of the vehicle, ejecting the man. The vehicle came to rest on top of him. The driver did not have adequate safety gear on at the time of the crash, according to troopers.

An Independence man sustained moderate injury Saturday, May 31 after traveling off a Howard County roadway.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 2 p.m. on Route H south of Higbee, near the intersection with County Road 230. According to troopers, the 76-year-old man failed to negotiate a curve as he was riding his motorcycle north, traveling off the right side of the highway. The man was taken to a Columbia hospital.
