A 16-year-old from Lincoln died in a Pettis County accident on Sunday, June 1.

A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a pickup driven by a 19-year-old Windsor man traveled off the right side of eastbound McVey Road at a high rate of speed. The vehicle began to slide before returning to the roadway, then traveled off the left side and overturned while striking a grove of trees.

The 16-year-old Lincoln juvenile, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to MU Hospital for treatment. Two additional passengers, a 17-year-old from Sedalia and an 18-year-old from Smithton, were also injured.

The accident was reported at 2:36 p.m. on McVey Road, west of Bohon Road in Pettis County. This is the 34th fatality that Troop A has reported in 2025.
