
The Warrensburg boys’ track and field team finished 11th at the MSHSAA Class Four State Meet last Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 in Jefferson City.
The 4×100 relay team of Ty Carman, Seth Johnson, Timarian Rozell, and Cruz Villegas finished second with a time of 41.85 seconds, coming across the line after Cardinal Ritter. The four also finished tenth in the 4×200 relay, and with Amir Ramos in place of Villegas, finished eighth in the 4×400. Rozell finished second in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.17 seconds, roughly a quarter-second behind state winner Kristoff Bailey of Ft Zumwalt East. Villegas finished eighth in the 100-meter final, and missed the final for the 200-meter dash by 0.05 second. Jeremiah Akinbohun placed ninth in the 1600-meter run.
In the field events, Caleb Hitefield finished fifth in the pole vault by clearing 4.26 meters on his first attempt. Ryan Munsterman finished tenth in the javelin throw. Elsewhere, Deacon Arends of Marshall finished tied for tenth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.87 meters on his third and final attempt.
At the Class Four girls meet, Shelley Thompson of Marshall finished fourth in the triple jump. Her second attempt of 11.18 meters was her highest score. Warrensburg’s Avrie Fox finished fifth in the shot put with her best throw coming in at 12.12 meters.
