The Carrollton Town Council opened and accepted bids for three items at their meeting Monday, June 2.

Mayor Keith Higgins says the council first reviewed bids for a new air conditioning and heating unit for the wastewater department, which had been tabled at an earlier meeting.

Higgins anticipates the new system being installed in the next 30 days. The council also accepted the lower of two bids a demolition project. Red Rock Construction of Hamilton will demolish the home at 403 E. Fourth St. for $11,950. Pavlich Incorporated of Kansas City, Ks. offered the lone bid for Carrollton’s road salt needs next winter, maintaining their previous rate of $99 per ton.

Higgins added that after the meeting, he received an update on a bridge project in the town.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, the town council agreed to a two-year renewal with the Carroll County Area YMCA for use of their pool, and agreed to finance the Carrollton Municipal Utilities’ purchase of a bucket truck and skid loader through Carroll County Trust Company. They also approved an ordinance making Maple Street a one-way street, going northbound only from Third to Fourth streets. Town council members tabled consideration of bids for lots on South Main, after the council determined that the lone bid received did not meet their requirements.
