The City of Sedalia is preparing to break ground on a major neighborhood revitalization project that aims to improve walk-ability, accessibility, and neighborhood pride in the city’s North Central area.
A groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, June 14 at Hubbard Park, in partnership with the Sedalia NAACP. The event will celebrate not just the project’s launch, but the long-standing community voices who have advocated for safer infrastructure and neighborhood investment for years. Community Engagement Director Jessica Hoffman describes how this project represents one of the largest public infrastructure investments in this part of Sedalia.
Hoffman notes that $767,760 of the total project cost is funded by grants like the Community Revitalization Grant and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The total cost of the project is $1.53 million. Hoffman says this project is “long overdue.”
This project will also launch the City of Sedalia’s first-ever interactive project map, a digital tool designed to keep residents informed in real time. The map will show which streets are under construction, when improvements are planned, and how the project is progressing.
