Several area communities reported downed power lines and tree limbs as storms rolled through the region Tuesday, June 3.
Several large trees near downtown Sedalia were brought down by strong wind gusts and heavy rain, including one that landed on a vehicle near Broadway Blvd. Wind gusts at the Sedalia Regional Airport were measured as high as 62 miles per hour, also bringing down power lines that left parts of the city without power for at least an hour. No serious injuries were reported.
In Lafayette County, a large tree was reportedly uprooted and split outside Dover, with several metal structures including a firepit lifted and moved, and debris from a cornfield strewn across a nearby property. Several reports of downed power lines were reported around Moberly, along with tree damage in nearby Holiday Acres Lake and Clifton Hill. Elsewhere, downed trees were reported around Marshall, Nelson and Slater, as well as tree damage and downed power lines around Boonville.
As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, the largest concentration of power outages is around the Lake of the Ozarks, where 570 electric cooperative members are without power. Another 150 members in Morgan County also remain without power Wednesday morning.
