The Moberly City Council took steps to help modernize a historic landmark in downtown Moberly during it meeting Monday, June 2.

The council reviewed bids electrical services at the Municipal Auditorium. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the age and history of the auditorium motivated the council’s decision.

The council accepted the bid from Harlan Electrical and Controls for the work. A contract was approved in the amount of $35,000.

The council also authorized a contract with J.T. Holman General Construction and Excavating for the demolition of ten residential building structures in the amount of $40,000. McGarvey says this will allow developers to build new structures and increase the available housing in Moberly.
