Emergency management agreements with three cities were accepted Wednesday, June 4 by the Saline County Commission.

The commission accepted the agreements with Gilliam, Marshall and Nelson during their regular session. Commissioners also agreed to the renewal of six liquor licenses for the next year.

During their reports, both associate commissioners relayed updates on bridge projects in the county. Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced the completion of the installation of a culvert to replace the bridge on 200th Road north of Cretcher that had been damaged in late February. He also noted that an engineering invoice recently arrived as part of the 245th Road bridge between Malta Bend and Mount Leonard, totaling $4200, with a target completion date of mid-2026, and added that the project to replace a bridge on Paw Paw Trail near Gilliam remained on track for completion by March.

Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden announced that a public comment window is underway for replacement of the Quince Avenue bridge over Pierre Fleche Creek southwest of Saline City. Construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2026, with the project expected to take up to four months to complete. Concerned residents and organizations may submit comments about the bridge replacement project to the county commission until June 12. Click here to read the public notice.

Commissioners also remind the public that the Saline County Courthouse will remain open for regular business hours on Friday, June 13.
