A recent graduate of Marshall High School will wrap up her high school debate career on a national stage later this month, representing the Owls at the 100th National Speech and Debate Association tournament in Des Moines.

Michelle Lin is one of two Marshall students that will compete at nationals, joining Brianna Carillo as the first two qualifiers from Marshall in 18 years. Lin says it’s been an interesting experience to connect with previous national qualifiers and gain advice from them.

Lin will compete in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, having won the competition at the Heart of America Regional tournament last March in Independence. She says she hopes to encourage her fellow debate students to put in the effort.

The 100th National Speech and Debate Association tournament takes place June 15-20.
