The City of Slater is still recovering after severe storms came through the area Tuesday night.

The City Council had to cancel its meeting Tuesday due to the severe weather. City Administrator Gene Griffith says the aftermath of the storm left plenty of damage to trees and city structures.

Griffith says this was one of the bigger storms Slater has experienced in recent memory, but credits the preventative measures the city has taken.

Griffith explained the city will not be seeking any EMA funding to help repair the damage from this storm. Griffith says he will discuss severe weather protocol at the next city council meeting on Tuesday, June 17.
