The City of Miami is four weeks away from joining communities along the Missouri River in welcoming hundreds of racers in the MR340.
City clerk Liz Elson says Miami has served as a stop for all 20 years of the race, and last year welcomed over 500 boats and their ground crews through the city.
Miami will serve as a stop for competitors from Tues., July 8 at 5 p.m. until Weds., July 9 at 11 a.m. Elson says the city welcomes donations and volunteers to make the stop possible.
The MR340 will launch July 8 from Kaw Point in Kansas City, Kansas, and finish no later than July 11. Elson says the public is also welcome to Miami to watch the boats as they come along the river July 8 and 9, with hot dogs and hamburgers available the evening of July 8 and a pancake breakfast the morning of July 9.
