The Marshall-Saline Development Corporation met to discuss progress on potential housing developments in the City of Slater during its meeting on Tuesday, June 10.

MDSC Director Conner Swift says he’s been in contact with a developer interested in building single-family homes in Slater. Swift says he’s already met with the developer, Mayor Terry Jordan, and City Administrator Gene Griffith to gauge interest on the project.

Swift notes this developer will still need to work out the fine details with the city before moving forward with any future developments.

MSDC also met with Saline County Career Center Adult Education Coordinator Beth Walker to discuss workforce development opportunities.

Swift also spoke about the recent announcement of La Bella Vistas building at least 14 homes in the City of Sweet Springs. Swift says he hopes construction will begin later this month.

MSDC’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8.
