
The Toronto Blue Jays finished off a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday, June 11.
The Cardinals got off to a good start, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. Willson Contreras drilled an RBI single in the first and Yohel Pozo crushed a solo homer to left field in the second.
The Blue Jays finally got to Matthew Liberatore in the third after a Bo Bichette RBI single and a sac fly from George Springer to tie the game. Toronto took the lead in the fourth after a sac fly from Bichette and an RBI single from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ernie Clement added to Toronto’s lead with a solo homer in teh fifth.
Liberatore took the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) over five innings.
The Cardinals fall to 36-32, but remain five games back in the NL Central after the Cubs lost to the Phillies. The Cardinals will next travel to Milwaukee to face the Brewers for a four-game series. First pitch begins at 6:40 p.m.
