The Glasgow Board of Aldermen adopted their budget for the next fiscal year Monday, June 9, phasing out the position of city administrator.

City clerk Tiara O’Kee tells KMMO News that the new budget will take effect July 1 and eliminate the role, which has been vacant since the May 1 departure of former administrator Robert Snider. O’Kee says that she and mayor Donald Clear will split the role’s duties, with Clear planning to increase his office hours at City Hall starting next month.

Aldermen also received updates on several projects that remain open for bids. O’Kee says that aldermen are wanting three bids from contractors to replace the doors at City Hall before opening them. Aldermen also received a bid on the vacant third story space above City Hall but have yet to consider it, and Glasgow is still looking for a webmaster to revive the city’s website. The board also discussed a recent change to state law concerning celebratory gunfire and whether they should draft their own version of “Blair’s Law”. O’Kee says the board decided that such a change was not necessary and left city ordinances as is.
