The pool dome will go up again this winter at the municipal pool in Marceline.
The city council voted Wednesday, June 11 to go forward with a winter pool season. City manager Jesse Wallis commends the Friends of the Pool for their efforts to make the added season possible.
Before that, the city will celebrate the Fourth of July with a pair of events in the downtown area. Wallis says the council agreed to close a block of Ritchie Street for a Chamber of Commerce event that evening from 5 to 9 p.m.
Also on the Fourth of July at 6:30 p.m., the Marceline Historic Preservation Committee will host a presentation on the four buildings in the city recently added to the National Registry of Historic Places. The presentation will take place at Ripley Park.
The Marceline City Council also voted Wednesday night to renew Wallis’ services as city manager for another year. They also authorized an agreement with Toth and Associates for work on the city’s substations, and an engineering agreement with Allstate Consultants for design work on a lift station on Pine Street. The council also agreed to close Marceline’s health insurance bank account and roll the remaining funds into the city’s general fund.
