Classroom doors at Eastwood School may have closed for the last time, but Marshall Public Schools is open to offering them as mementos to interested groups.

Supt. Caleb Petet says the district has been approached by several organizations seeking items from the soon-to-be-demolished building. Petet adds he’s open to ideas on how to preserve the memory of the 102-year-old building as it comes down later this summer.

Petet says nearly every surplus item has been removed from Eastwood, with one last online sale planned. He commends the district’s crews for quickly clearing items from Eastwood as well as Benton and Northwest schools.

Supt. Caleb Petet provided the update on the three shuttered elementary schools to board members at Tuesday’s Marshall School Board meeting. Petet reported that the sale of Benton had officially closed, while the sale of Northwest was expected to close by Friday, June 13.
