The owners of 170 properties in Saline County have until the end of the month to pay their delinquent taxes if they wish to avoid having their names published and properties subject to auction.

Collector Cindi Sims tells KMMO News that property owners in Saline County who are delinquent on their taxes need to settle soon if they don’t want their names published or their delinquent properties listed in this year’s tax certificate auction.

Sims says the last date to pay delinquent bills and have properties removed from the sale list is Aug. 22, the Friday before the sale. She notes that potential buyers have already contacted her office about taking part in the sale. However, she advises that all buyers must register ahead of time, when the registration window opens.

Each county collector in Missouri is responsible for organizing a sale each August of properties deemed delinquent on their taxes, as prescribed in Chapter 140 of Missouri State Statutes.

Sims provided an update on preparations for the sale during the Wednesday, June 18 meeting of the Saline County Commission. Also at Wednesday morning’s meeting, the commission approved the hire of Evan Chadwick as the new court bailiff and accepted the renewal of a series of liquor licenses totaling $2486 in collected fees.
