The Slater City Council reviewed and accepted the city’s audit for the 2024 fiscal year during its meeting on Tuesday, June 17.
City Administrator Gene Griffith detailed the audit page-by-page, which he said “presented fairly.” Griffith says this is the best grade the city could get for its audit.
Griffith noted the only hiccup in the city’s audit was some overspending from the Capital Improvement Fund in December. The council was aware of the spending and is still monitoring expenditures. Griffith explained the council will have to amend the budget during a future meeting to correct the mistake. The audit was conducted by Gerding Korte and Chitwood.
In other news, Mayor Terry Jordan reminded residents that new trash rates are going in effect and will be reflected on July 1st bills. Residential trash rates are set at $15.50 moving forward after the council agreed to a contract renewal with Rural Trash Service (RTS).
