The Higginsville Board of Aldermen is accepting applications to allow vendors to sell fireworks in the city limits.

The board accepted one of these applications during its meeting Monday, approving a sales permit for Aces Fastpitch Club. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson says the permit allows vendors to sell fireworks in the city on July 2-4. Dobson notes that the board also gave her permission to approve any applications the city receives until July 3.

Residents can also shoot fireworks in the city July 2-4 as well. The Higginsville Chamber of Commerce is also hosting an Independence Day Celebration the evening of Thursday, July 3.

In other news, the board approved two appointments to the Higginsville Community Betterment Committee. Brad Isdell and Tim Thurmon were both appointed to that committee for full terms.
