A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Marshall woman that law enforcement says is connected to several break-ins of Saline County residences and a downtown Marshall business.
A probable cause statement from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office accuses 34-year-old Ashley Nicole Adams of playing a role in two vehicle thefts and at least two burglaries. According to the statement, a review of Adams’ cell phone data revealed that Adams was in the vicinity of a farm in southern Saline County where a truck was stolen from a field on May 13. That truck was located the morning of May 15 by Marshall Police north of Eastwood Street, containing documents believed to be from a safe stolen from a residence, as well as jewelry and display cases from a Marshall business that had been burglarized that morning. The statement cites Marshall Police’s investigation suggesting that the truck had been used to crash into the front door of the business.
A week later, deputies responded to an address in Napton where a second pickup had been reported stolen. Shortly after an attempted burglary was reported May 22, the truck was located a couple miles away, where deputies say Adams was sitting in the driver’s seat. She had told deputies that she was driving the truck for someone else. According to the statement, a search of the truck found a police scanner, tools, a drone, and license plates belonging to another vehicle. Deputies placed Adams under arrest and continued their investigation, which they say led to them using Adams’ cell phone data to place her at each location around the time of each alleged theft.
Adams is facing two charges of stealing a motor vehicle, two charges of second-degree burglary, one charge of attempted burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Online records indicate that Adams is behind bars at the Saline County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond. Text messages reviewed by law enforcement showed Adams messaging a second person just prior to her arrest; however, no additional charges have been filed at this time.
