As Independence Day celebrations get underway throughout the area over the next few weeks, the Slater City Council is reminding residents of the city’s fireworks ordinance.
The city allows fireworks to be sold and used in the city from June 20 to July 5 each year. Fireworks are not allowed to be used on Sundays during this period. Residents can shoot fireworks until 10 p.m. on weekdays, and until 11 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
The city is also allowing residents to shoot fireworks until 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.
The council also discussed some events at the city pool later this summer. The city is hosting swim lessons from June 30 to July 13. Residents can sign up at the pool. Adult swim night is scheduled for July 12 and the city’s Pool Bash is set for August 2.
