
The Concordia R-2 School District Board of Education voted to hire coaches for the track, baseball, golf, and softball programs during its most recent meeting.
The hires were approved during the board’s June 11th meeting during closed session. Steve Denton was hired as the high school track coach, with Katie Hass being hired as an assistant. Sam Willis was selected for junior high track, with Courtney Reynolds being named the assistant.
Some of the other hires include Nathan Beissenherz being named the head baseball coach, Tucker Judd as assistant baseball coach, Brett Heil for the golf program, and Mercedes Balke and Tauri Davis for the junior high girls basketball program. Superintendent Theresa Christian says she is excited to see all the new faces lead these athletic programs during the next school year.
The board also voted to update the extra duty stipends for the basketball cheer leading program, FCCLA, and Game Club. Basketball cheer leading was increased to six percent, FCCLA was increased to four percent, and the stipend for both sponsors of the Game Club was set at three percent.
In other news, the Board of Education is holding a special meeting on Wednesday, June 25, to finalize the 2024-2025 budget and approve the budget for next fiscal year. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the High School Library Media Center.
