
Samuel P. “Sam” Fowler, 84, of Marshall, MO, died Friday, June 20, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Memorial services with military rites will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Higginsville. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Missouri State Veterans Cemetery or Central Missouri Honor Flight in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born December 24, 1940, in Steamboat Springs, CO, he was the son of the late Howard M. Fowler and Dorothy Margaret Draper Fowler Fleming. Sam was a 1959 graduate of Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, CA, and then earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas. On September 4, 1981, he married Evelyn “Sue” Smith who survives of the home. Sam’s career was spent in healthcare administration and he retired in 2006. He moved to Marshall, from Carrollton, in 1994, and was a member of First Christian Church in Marshall and the Salt Fork Pachyderm Club.
In addition to his wife, Sue; he is survived by one daughter, Dawn Bankston (John) of San Angelo, TX; three grandchildren: Hayden, Darian and Adrian; two great-grandchildren, Evaline and Forrest; one brother, Barry E. Fowler (Sharon) of San Diego, CA; a half-sister, Eleanor “Ellie” Busch (Ron) of Ventura, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clarence C. Fleming; and stepsister, Evelyn Allen (Fred).
