Two freshly minted troopers from our area are among the newest faces set to patrol Missouri’s highways this summer, following their graduation from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s law enforcement academy.

Trooper Tyler J Davis has been assigned to Troop B’s Zone 10, covering Monroe and Randolph counties. Davis is a native of Cairo and graduate of Northeast R-IV. Before enrolling in the law enforcement academy, Davis studied civil engineering at Missouri State Technical College in Linn and worked as a materials technician for a Columbia-based engineering firm. Trooper Preston Silvey is returning to his native Morgan County. The Versailles High School graduate has been assigned to Zone 6 of Troop F, which covers Morgan as well as Moniteau counties.

The two are among the 28 troopers that comprise the 123rd recruit class of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. They graduated from the academy Wednesday morning, and will officially report for duty to their respective assignments July 7. That includes four additions to the patrol’s Troop A.
