Members of Missouri’s congressional delegation are among those reacting to Saturday night’s strikes on three Iranian facilities suspected of enriching uranium.
Those strikes were conducted by the 509th Bomb Wing based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster. Republican Congressman Mark Alford, whose Fourth District includes Whiteman Air Force Base, posted on social media Saturday night that the 509th, “showed the world what they can do to protect American interests and keep our citizens safe.”
In his statement Sunday afternoon, Kansas City Democrat Emanuel Cleaver wrote that while he’s hopeful that Iran’s nuclear capabilities were seriously weakened or destroyed, he criticized President Trump’s decision as a “power grab” and said that any further military action must be voted on by Congress.
The mission comes days after a change of command ceremony Wednesday morning, which KMMO News attended.
