Three area school districts will close the books on the 2024-25 school year and set their budgets for the new year at their respective Board of Education meetings Tuesday, June 24.
The Slater School District will have its board meeting at 5 p.m. Among their agenda items are the approval of bus routes, out-of-district tuition rate, and handbooks for the next school year. The board will also consider a sports co-op with Malta Bend, adding girls golf and shooting sports, and dropping the junior high softball program. Slater’s school board will also continue their cover-to-cover review of district policies, this month reviewing those pertaining to personnel, negotiations, and instruction.
The Sedalia School District 200 board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Heckart Performing Arts Center at Smith-Cotton High School. The board will have a lengthy agenda, including decisions on playground turf alternatives, a renewal of the district’s property, liability and workers compensation plans, and a designation of surplus property. The board is also expected to review a pair of change orders, and consider a donation from Duke Manufacturing. This month’s meeting is a day later than usual because of the annual Sedalia School District Foundation golf tournament.
Additionally, the Santa Fe R-X board of education will meet Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the high school in Alma.
