The Kansas City Royals may be more eager to announce where they want to build their new stadium, as they’ve yet to win a game at Kauffman Stadium this month.

The Royals dropped their eighth straight game at home Tuesday, June 24, falling to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1. Tampa’s starting pitcher Taj Bradley, who entered the game with an ERA of 4.95, retired the first 16 batters he faced before allowing a walk and double in the sixth. Bradley went 6.2 innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four. Meanwhile, Royals starter Kris Bubic gave up a two-run home run to Danny Jansen in the second inning, who then delivered a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to make it 3-0. Yandy Díaz scored on a throwing error in the fifth. Despite recording eight strike outs in his six innings of work, Bubic was charged with two of the four runs in the loss, allowing eight hits.

The Rays added a run in the eighth when Jack Mangum grounded into a force out that scored Junior Caminero. The Royals’ lone run came with two outs in the ninth, when Vinnie Pasquantino singled on a line drive to left field.

The Royals are now 38-41, 3.5 games behind Seattle for the third wild card spot and 11.5 games behind Detroit for the AL Central lead. Michael Wacha will get the start Wednesday as the Royals continue looking for any spark to get back on track. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m., with pregame at 6 p.m. on KMMO-FM 102.9.
