Saline County Assessor Jessica Adcock Goodman reminds the county’s real estate and personal property owners that Tuesday, July 1, 2025 is the final date to make an informal appeal to her office about a parcel’s assessed valuation.

Goodman says that after Tuesday, any taxpayer wishing to appeal changes in their property’s assessed value will have to make an appointment for a hearing before the Board of Equalization.

Goodman reminds taxpayers that they cannot wait until their bill arrives in the mail in November to appeal for a lower value, as property values are considered final once the Assessor closes her books and the Board of Equalization concludes. She asks taxpayers arguing for a different assessed value to provide documentation supporting their claim should they seek an informal appeal at her office.

Residential and commercial properties were subject to significantly higher valuations this year, following a directive from the State Tax Commission. Goodman notes that tax impact statements were sent to county taxpayers at the beginning of the month, including for nearly a thousand commercial properties. She adds that as of Monday, her office had received 237 calls from commercial property owners, of whom 86 saw their properties’ values readjusted, while four will go before the Board of Equalization when it convenes next month.

An earlier version of this story said that Friday, June 27th was the deadline, and has been edited to reflect the correct date.
