The Fayette Board of Aldermen considered a sewer rate increase for the city during its meeting on Tuesday, June 24.

Fayette City Administrator Deanna Cooper says sewer rates haven’t increased in six years. She says the reason for the increase is due to the rising costs the city is experiencing to maintain the sewer system.

The board approved a three percent increase to the city’s sewer rates. Cooper says the increase takes effect August 1, 2025.

The Board of Aldermen also approved the 2025-2026 budget. Cooper says one of the key items listed in the budget this year are various street improvements.
