The Kansas City offense finally put some runs on the board, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 5-4 loss on Friday, June 27.

Royals starter Noah Cameron struggled from the beginning, giving up a leadoff homer to Shohei Ohtani. Kansas City responded in the bottom of the first when Salvador Perez connected on an RBI single to left field.

Max Muncy responded with a two-run home run to center field in the second inning, making it 3-1 Dodgers. The Kansas City bats once again responded, as Kyle Isbel drove home a run with a double, then Bobby Witt Jr. smacked a two run homer to give the Royals a 4-3 lead.

The Dodgers regained momentum in the fifth, tying the game on Ohtani’s RBI triple and then taking the lead on a Mookie Betts single.

All five runs were charged to Cameron, who only lasted four innings, giving up three hits and three walks. The Kansas City bullpen kept the game close, but the Royals couldn’t plate any more runs, dropping the game despite outhitting LA 11-4.

The Royals fall to 38-44, still fourth in the AL Central and 12.5 games back of Detroit. The Royals will look to snap their six-game losing streak Saturday, June 28. Seth Lugo gets the start to KC, while Ohtani will start for the Dodgers. Pregame coverage begins at 2:30 p.m., with first pitch at 3:10 on KMMO AM 1300.
