A Cole Camp man was arrested and charged after deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department located more than eight grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl during a traffic stop on Monday, June 30.

According to a probable cause statement, Pettis County Sheriff deputies initiated the traffic stop at 1:53 a.m. near 16th and Montgomery in Sedalia on a vehicle with improper registration and no front license plate. Authorities made contact with the driver, Austin Gruber, who appeared nervous.

Gruber allowed the deputies to search his vehicle, where they found several small baggies containing a white crystal substance, as well as a digital scale. Gruber was also allegedly hiding several more baggies with narcotics and a glass pipe in his pants.

The narcotics tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. Gruber has prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance, dating back to 2016.
