The St Louis Blues looked forward to the 2025-26 season by picking up a pair of wingers and a new netminder during the past weekend’s NHL Draft.
The Blues used their first-round selection on Justin Carbonneau, the 19th overall pick in this year’s draft. The 18-year-old Carbonneau has played three seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, scoring 82 goals and 86 assists, including 46 goals in 62 games last season for Blainville-Boisbriand. Carbonneau had previously committed to playing at Boston College this winter but now has an opportunity to jump straight into the league and don the note.
The Blues used their fifth-round pick on Russian forward Mikhail Fyodorov, who led his minor league team in scoring last season with 17 goals and 26 assists. In the following round, the Blues selected goaltender Love Harenstam, who has a save percentage of .902 in the past three seasons in Sweden’s under-20 league.
Shortly before Saturday’s picks, the Blues announced a two-year extension for goaltender Joel Hofer worth $6.8 million. The 2018 draft selection played in 31 games for the Blues last season, posting a 16-8-3 record including one shutout and a goal-against average of 2.64.
