The City of Slater has cancelled their regularly scheduled city council meeting for Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
According to Slater city clerk Mindee Grimes, both Mayor Terry Jordan and the mayor pro tem will not be available to preside over the meeting, resulting in the council’s next meeting now taking place July 15.
However, at least two area cities are planning meetings for this holiday-shortened week. The Marshall City Council will have its meeting as scheduled Tuesday evening at 6 p.m., the first with Craig Thompson as mayor. The council is expected to consider Thompson’s appointment of a new city council member for the Fourth Ward, vacated when Thompson was sworn in as mayor last week. The council will also give first reading to ordinances concerning the use of bicycles around the courthouse square and a procedure requiring the city’s elected officials to disclose potential conflicts of interest.
The City of Moberly will meet Monday at 6 p.m. to consider a pair of applications for Transportation Alternative Program grants, as well as a contract to improve the sidewalks along East Rollins, which is also state Route EE. The city’s budget for the next year is also due for adoption.
