Three people including a Warrensburg man were injured Saturday, July 5 after a three-vehicle crash near the Elm community in Johnson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 at the intersection with NW 1601 Road. Troopers report that a pickup driven by a 20-year-old from Warrensburg was slowing down to turn, when it was struck from behind by an SUV driven by a 55-year-old man from Topeka. The collision sent the SUV into another pickup driven by a 17-year-old from Kingsville stopped in the southbound lane.
The drivers from Warrensburg and Topeka, along with a passenger in the SUV, all incurred moderate injuries. The two Kansans were taken to a Warrensburg hospital, while the Warrensburg man was treated at a Kansas City area hospital. The Kingsville driver had no reported injuries and was able to drive his truck from the scene. Troopers say the two pickup drivers were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
