
Sedalia Police arrested a Mexico, Missouri, woman after a reported fraud at McCarthy Toyota on June 29.
According to a probable cause statement from the Sedalia Police Department, officers were dispatched to the dealership after an Oklahoma resident reported a fraudulent purchase using their social security number and name. Police learned the suspect, identified as Patricia Harris, used the victim’s personal information to co-sign on a vehicle purchase.
Harris also allegedly submitted an altered driver’s license, a fake address, and the victim’s date of birth while making the purchase. Police made contact with Harris, and discovered that she was in possession of personal information on another subject. This information included the subject’s social security number, address, and banking information.
Harris has been charged with felonies for stealing a motor vehicle, forgery, identity theft, filing false documents, and trafficking stolen identities. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
She was arraigned on Monday, July 7. No other court dates have been set at this time.
