The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties in the KMMO listening area until 10 p.m. this evening.

The counties included in the watch include Saline, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, and Randolph in the KMMO listening area.

The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Residents should stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued.
