A three-vehicle collision in northern Morgan County on Sunday, July 13 sent four people to area hospitals, including a Clarksburg woman with serious injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that around 12:15 p.m., a sedan driven by the 22-year-old woman from Clarksburg, hydroplaned as it went south on Route 5 near Moreau Lane, south of Fortuna. Troopers say the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a northbound SUV driven by a 50-year-old man from Lawrence, Ks. The crash caused the Clarksburg woman and her passenger to be thrown from her vehicle. Her sedan came to rest in the roadway, while the SUV went off the northbound shoulder and overturned.
The Lawrence driver and his two passengers, ages 21 and 11, all sustained moderate injuries. All four injured people were taken by ambulance to a Columbia hospital. No injuries were reported for the passenger in the sedan. A third vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old from Grain Valley, was struck by debris from the crash, but cleared to drive from the scene.
Troopers added that the driver from Clarksburg had not been wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
