Robert “Bob” Finkeldei, 69, of rural Blackburn, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Bob was born on January 2, 1956, in Marshall, and was the son of the late William F. “Bill” Finkeldei and Marjorie Krause Finkeldei who survives of Marshall. He grew up on the family farm and quickly developed a love for agriculture and the outdoors. Bob attended Santa Fe High School in Alma and graduated in 1974. On April 25, 1975, he married his high school sweet heart, Sherry Geraughty. A short time later he and Sherry began raising their family and he continued his lifelong love of farming. In 2000, they started growing vegetables in a small homemade greenhouse, later turning it into a business, “Cedar Lane Greenhouse.” For the past 23 years Bob, Sherry, and their two sons have worked to turn this small homemade greenhouse hobby into a commercial greenhouse business that serves garden centers across five states in the Midwest. While it was a commercial business, what mattered most to Bob was working alongside his family. Agriculture, horticulture, and work were all an important part of Bob’s life, but what was paramount in his life was his love for his family. Being a son, husband, father and brother were special in his life, but when his grandchildren came along, they were top priority. His love for family was fierce and loyal and that will be missed.
In addition to his wife, Sherry and his mother, Marjorie; he is survived by two sons, Jason (Amanda) and their children: Emmett, Evan, Ethan and Audrey; son, Corey (Erin) and their children: Logan, Parker and Macy; one brother, Don Finkeldei (Nancy); two brothers-in-law, Larry Crawford and Dr. James K. Geraughty; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and numerous friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Bill; and a sister, Brenda Crawford.
A memorial visitation will be held for family and friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family request that instead of sending flowers that you honor Bob with a donation to Santa Fe FFA Chapter.
