The Moberly Police Department responded to two calls Tuesday, July 15 which resulted in fatalities.

Officers were called to a residence on the 1700 block of Leah Lane around 9:35 a.m. for reports that someone had been tampering with a utility line and then was electrocuted. Responding officers found a 54-year-old man from Moberly who suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say they are investigating the incident as an accident, and are working closely with utility officials to determine the exact circumstances.

30 minutes later, officers responded to a collision at the intersection of U.S. Route 24 and the east Outer Road near U.S. Route 63. Officers say the crash between an SUV and motorcycle injured the rider of the motorcycle. The 39-year-old man from Moberly was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
