Paul Edward McLaughlin, 83, of Clinton, MO, formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Silverado Senior Living in Lee’s Summit.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Nelson Cemetery in Nelson.  Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born October 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Paul McLaughlin and Mary Ellen Carroll McLaughlin.  Paul was born and raised in the Nelson area and was a graduate of Nelson High School.  He married Donna Kay Cunningham, who resides in the home, and they were married for over 52 years.  Paul’s career was spent with Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as an electrician, retiring after 35 years of service.  He and Donna moved to Clinton, from Independence, 8 years ago and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and walking together.  Paul was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his wife, Donna; he is survived by two children, Eric Scott McLaughlin (Holly Milkowart) of Louisburg, KS and Kimberly McLaughlin of Independence; two grandsons, Trevor McLaughlin (Morgan) and Cade McLaughlin, both of Independence; one sister, Kay MacLaughlin of Blackburn; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Dawson and Mary Hughes; and one brother, James W. McLaughlin.
