Four years after moving the county government’s accounts to a different institution, Saline County will again undertake the process of setting up accounts at another bank.
The Saline County Commission agreed during their Wednesday, July 16 session to the recommendation of treasurer Jared Brewer that the county accept the bid for financial services offered by Exchange Bank. Brewer tells KMMO News that the winning bid offered the highest rate for the county’s interest-bearing accounts, with a floor of two percent. He adds that the process of moving the county’s accounts will unfold over the next six months, as outstanding checks are cashed and automatic transactions including payroll and sales tax collections remitted by the state are re-routed to the new bank. Brewer had gone through the same process in 2021 when Wood and Huston Bank won the previous bid for the county’s financial services.
Also at Wednesday morning’s session, the commission opened the lone bid submitted for installation of the storm siren near Arrow Rock. Blue Valley Public Safety of Grain Valley submitted a bid of $26,947.06, which the commission took under advisement. Commissioners also accepted the agreement to have Marshall Municipal Utilities manage the wastewater treatment plant at the Marshall Junction.
