With less than a month to go until the opening of the new Marshall Intermediate School, district leaders and city officials are preparing for not only the opening of a new building, but also traffic at the beginning and end of the school day.

Marshall Public Schools Supt. Caleb Petet says the district will plan to have traffic to the intermediate school separated from vehicles making their way to Spainhower Primary School. Petet adds that a video and printed material will go out to parents and guardians.

A second school building on the district’s Northeast Campus, site of the former Marshall Habilitation Center, means more students crossing Lincoln to get to and from school. Petet says the district and City of Marshall are planning to install two crosswalks, and will have crossing guards on duty.

Marshall Supt. Caleb Petet says final walk-throughs are underway as Nabholz Construction puts the finishing touches on the intermediate school. The district plans to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony the morning of Thursday, Aug. 14.
