Slater City Administrator Gene Griffith announced that the city received a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to help pay for a new security fence around the water plant.

The announcement came during the Slater City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 15. Griffith explained the city has a goal to construct security fencing around several of the city’s facilities. This grant would help cover the cost of phase one of the project.

The total cost of the phase one fence came in at $36,000, with the grant funds to cover $25,000. Griffith hopes the fence will be complete by the end of the year.

In other news, Griffith says Vance Brother will be sweeping city streets for excess rock until the end of the month.
