Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will have to spent part of a future off-season behind bars after admitting his role in a multi-vehicle car crash in his native Dallas.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Rice entered into a plea agreement in a Texas court, admitting that he raced on a highway and caused a collision that resulted in bodily injury. Rice was sentenced to 30 days of jail time, which a judge ruled he can serve at any point during a five-year probationary period. He has also paid $115,000 in restitution to victims of the spring 2024 crash. Dallas police accused Rice of traveling at 119 miles per hour in a luxury SUV just prior to the crash. While Rice can elect to avoid jail time during the season, a separate disciplinary process by the NFL could result in a multiple-game suspension.

Rice suffered a torn right ACL in last season’s Week Four game at the Los Angeles Chargers and missed the rest of the season. The Chiefs are expecting Rice to be healthy when training camp begins next week in St Joseph.
