The warning takes effect at noon on Saturday, July 19 and carry on through to Wednesday, July 23. NWS Meteorologist Allan Curtis says residents should be prepared for daytime highs in the mid to uppers 90s, with heat index values going over 100 degrees.
Curtis notes the overnight lows may reside in the mid to upper 70s, which can cause additional problems for residents.
Any resident who might be without air conditioning should contact their county’s Health Department or Emergency Management office for information on cooling centers. Residents working outdoors should make sure to stay hydrated and have access to cool and shaded conditions.
