The rapid growth of high school girls wrestling in Missouri will result in the Missouri State High School Activities Association establishing a separate weekend for their state championship beginning in 2027.
MSHSAA’s Board of Directors voted last month to move the girls wrestling schedule up a week, which will see the state tournament take place separate from the boys. Communications Director Andrew Kauffman says girls wrestling is currently at two classes, but could add more in short order.
Kauffman says that also means the girls tournament will take place at the nearby Hearnes Center.
The 2026 season will remain unchanged, with both the girls and boys state wrestling championships taking place Feb. 25-28 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
