The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will field public comment over the next 30 days on an application seeking the renewal of an operating permit for an area power plant.

Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI) is seeking to renew the Part 70 Operating Permit for its Holden Power Plant. The plant was built in 2002 and has three 121-megawatt dual fuel combustion turbines, a 1.5 million gallon storage tank, and two fuel gas heaters.

DNR reviewed the application first submitted in July 2020, and is proposing that the renewal be granted. The agency invites the public to review the application and related materials, and submit public comment, until Aug. 17. Written comments or any relevant information may be submitted to DNR’s Air Pollution Control Program in Jefferson City, either by e-mail (apcppermitspn@dnr.mo.gov) or by postal mail (PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176). No public meeting or hearing is scheduled at this time, but DNR may host one if a request identifying material issues with the permit determination is made no later than Aug. 7.
